Kinematic Equations

For motion with constant acceleration and t0 = 0, we can now derive a set of kinematic equations that will enable us to solve all problems of this kind. These equations are:

  1. x = x0 + v0 t + a t2
  2. v = v0 + a t
  3. vav = (v + v0)
  4. x = x0 + vav t
  5. v2 = v02 + 2 a (x - x0)

These five equations contain basically the essence of the physics covered in this chapter and the next one! (To see how one arrives at these equations, you should click on the derivation button.)
