LON-CAPA@MSU Production Setup

The MSU production server setup consists of 5 Dell 2650, 2 Dell 2850, 1 Dell 1850, and one HP AMD as access servers, and one Dell 6850 (quad dual-core processor) as library machine. The main library server shares a RAID array with a Dell 2850 hot spare. The access servers are hosting the learner sessions (stats), and the library machine hosts the user data and authoriative copies of the learning resources. In addition, the library server for the MSU domain "physnet" and the gateway server to the National Science Digital Library, as well as a number of development machines are mounted here.

The rack on the left includes the frontline access servers, as well as the gateway to the NSDL, a mirror of the main library server, the gigabit switch, and the system console with KVM switches. The rack on the right includes the main library server and a hot spare (sharing a RAID array), development machines, and the backup tape library. Left rack, two cables: fiber and 30amps. The right rack has two additional 30amp cables, as well as a 220 Volts 20amp cable to power the 6850.
